Join us for an on-line and hands-on introductory course on mushroom cultivation!
Course date: Wednesday, May 12th, 10 am to 12 pm. Price: $25 We will be hosting a 2-hour workshop via zoom using a mixture of online lecture presentations and hands-on activities. For this course, we will discuss the key items needed to successfully grow mushrooms such as environmental control, substrate mixtures, spawn, and sterility. We will also explore some basics in fungus biology, some of the amazing roles fungi play in the environment, and why the growing interest in mushroom cultivation. Ready-to-use spawn and sterilized substrate will be provided to each registered participant along with a pure culture of oyster mushroom. All materials will need to be picked up from the University of Arizona Controlled Environment Ag. Center (CEAC) in Tucson prior to the class. Details for pickup: Materials will be set just outside the main CEAC building for pickup between the hours of 10 am - 4 pm on both Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th. Materials will also be set outside for pickup on the morning of the class from 8 am - 10 am. The Controlled Environment Ag. Center is located at: 1951 E.
